    Hi all

Christmas has left me feeling like i need to indulge in some stuff. So at the moment I am looking for a BDU,gas mask and boots.

For the BDU I would be interesed in buying of www.flecktarn.co.uk If anyone could point me in the right direction.

As for the gas mask I am aware that the lenses cannot withstand AEGs so its only for looks.Any pointers.

And the boots im looking at http://www.redsoldier.com/s.nl/it.A/id.3444/.f?sc=2&category=1296.

    Thanks in advance!

I have an Avon S10 Mask as used by the SAS and issued to british citizens in the far east. Some people say the lenses arent strong enough, but from what I can see thats not completely true. I've blasted mine with plenty of firepower. No damage at all. I suspect this is due to the fact that they were produced for close to 20 years as far as I know. The only thing to do is shoot the feck outa them at point blank, if they break, too bad. You only want it for aesthetics...does that mean you want to put goggles underneath?

On the other hand, the vents in the S10 are not bb proof. BBs will shatter them after a few direct hits, a single shot at close range could go straight through the valves. To resolve this I put mesh grilles like on face mask over the three vents.

End Result: Used at the warehouse, no pain, between 92 and 96% FOV at a guess(you loose very little), diaphragm stops fogging(the only fogging I had was when I took them on and off). The only disadvantage is communication. With a comms system you are fine, be it throught or a boom mic in the mask, but normal conversation becomes "guh doo thu sawwnn own". Practice your hand signals:)

I'll post a few snapshots in a bit.

Ebay seller in the UK. Was €35 shipped but he made a lost on the PandP so I expect it to be around 40. I'll see if I can find the paypal log as ebay doesnt keep an everlasting history.

Boots, theres a crowd in Kildare(I think) that'll ship a pair of magnum patrol boots to you for under €50. Somebody will have the link, I've lost it.

BDUs, its all up to you, just dont buy multicam:D

When you're buying camouflage, remember the difference between camo that works, and camo that looks good.

How camo works depends on where you use it. ACU looks ok, but does not work in Ireland. It's far too light and will just turn you into a BB magnet. British DPM, French CCE or German Flecktarn all work fine here, because they were all developed for north/central Europe. CADPAT and MarPat work pretty well here, though they're a little dark. Danish is nice ;) if you want something different. CADPAT is unbeatable in forest areas. And, yes, Multicam does look like something a baby threw up, but it works amazingly well.

flecktarn.co.uk have some great stuff and are good to deal with. Also give ASMC.DE a look, they have a huge range and great prices.

CCE is the closest thing to Irish issue that you can legally wear - almost the same pattern, the colours are slightly different.

I buy nearly all my gear from flecktarn.co.uk, very reliable and reasonably priced, and I would agree with the other guys steer clear of that yank crap!

I forked out for the KSK type trousers and their well worth it, other than that the used shirts are just fine no need to buy new. :)

Russian camo works well here too.

Bekas in green forest or les woodland are great.

Seeing as you linked red soldier for the boots.

Also, use "kamo" as a code to get a discount ;)

If your looking for French camo, or "french F2 central Europian" as its known,
ProTac in the Curragh sell the full Goretex uniform. i think it cost me 70quid and the quality is fantastic. its in very good condition and its very hard wearing.,
As for the regular BDU, you can get this on ebay but i think i saw some in army bargains off mary street once. it wasnt the official surplus gear but looked good all the same.
i bought the shirt and trousers off ebay for about 18quid shipped, this was the genuine surplus gear and its rock solid gear. as Ozcam said, its the closest you'll get to Irish DPM/PaddyFlage in appearance but from comparing them close up there not all that alike, the clours are the only similarity really.,

    EDIT:

You can also but all the Irish DPM apparel from belts, hats, assault vests and bags etc legally from places like ProTac or army bargains.,.,

That looks really good, I can see that fitting in well here. I'll be on the lookout for some of that when I start skirmishing.

OT: The Eotech sight on the top of that FAMAS, talk about firing from the hip:D.
