Have you tried Expedia.com, Hotels.com etc? Rooms are probably not going to be cheap for New Years.

I was in Dubai last Summer and stayed in the K-Porte Inn. I paid €37 a night and they offered free airport transfers.

    Hi!

Thanks for that. That place sounds great! I'm flying out of Abu Dhabi though, did you fly out of there too? I wouldn't imagine they'd do free airport transfer to abu dhabi?
what was the hotel and location like? i have absolutely no idea about dubai!
    thanks again

I flew in and out of Abu Dhabi too. The hotel was nice, and the location was ok. (free transport to Dubai International only)

Taxis are the only way to get around out there - about €8/$40AED from the hotel to the Mall of the Emirates for a 20 minute journey. Taxi to Abu Dhabi Airport can be anywhere between $170-$250AED. Still reasonable.

I think Emirates run a bus from their depot in Dubai to Abu Dhabi airport. Not sure of the price, but it's under $40AED. And free (I think) if you're flying with Emirates.

If you want to do a bit of sightseeing it's best to stay in Dubai. There's not a whole lot to do in Abu Dhabi.

I'm pretty sure Etihad run the free bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai too if you're flying with them.
