nosey neighbours

x in the city

Am I the only soul blessed with living in a wee place chock a block full with nosey neighbours, the kind who go looking at rings on fingers and asking when your getting married, what your up to now where your working.

Or is this a given for most people in the sthicks......!?

Well, the OP's username is x in the city, so it seems to be a bit of a contradiction of being "in the city" and "in the sticks" - maybe they're in the outer outer far reaches of the commuter belt in estage agents' speak?*

I've thankfully never had nosey neighbours - in fact, if anything it's been the opposite. Everyone keeps so much to themselves it takes ages to kindle up an acquaintance with the neighbours.

If pressed on where you work, I'd also mention Revenue or maybe TV licence inspections.:D


*this being Longford, Cavan or Offaly or some such location.:P

A friend of mine had noisey neighbours. Long story short, the noise went on for weeks...
(He is like me. He don't believe in tit for tat. If your going to do something, do it RIGHT.)

He borrowed a couple of the HUGE concert speakers you see at the likes of the RDS.
One morning at 4am, he let them have it.
After a couple nights of listening to Whitney Houston singing "I will always love you..." to AC/DC and "The guns are about to rock" (and incorporated cannon fire), they eventually got the message.
