Come back on 5th of January and talk it over with your exam office.

If that fails, you can still resit those exams later on in the year.

Were you sent out a timetable?

Also, you were "kept" out of college? Bear in mind, I'm only giving a relatively objective view on what you've told, I don't know the actual circumstances that were keeping you out of college because you haven't actually said what they were.

More than likely, you'll get a reaction along the lines of "What exactly was so important that you couldn't get into college for what was it, over a month; nearly two months?! How is something that causes you to miss so much college "Nothing too important"????" That rings alarm bells and will certainly ring alarm bells in the heads of the people that matter.

My point about this is that if it actually is something fairly serious then they shouldn't have any problem with you not having registered for exams and will be accomodating about getting you registered late. If there are very legitimate reasons as to why you weren't there they might waive the late fee.

However, and it's a big however, here's something contained in the regulations.
8.1.1 Each candidate shall enter for the examination by submitting a completed application form and paying the requisite examination fee by the scheduled closing date for receipt of entries. Permission to sit the examination shall normally be granted to those registered students who have also complied with the specific regulations of their course. If a candidate is found to be ineligible to sit for the examinations then the candidate shall be so informed in writing by the faculty office.
You'll find it's the norm in DIT to have to attend 70% of your course (open to correction, but it's in and around that amount). Basically, unless you have it in writing and have already informed your tutor, head of school and head of faculty as to exactly WHY you've missed about 50% of your course (or you have actually been attending and just didn't bother to register), you may find you're actually ineligible to even sit the exams.

DIT are very student friendly people in my experience and people will go to endless lengths to help out a student that's having problems and make sure they're looked after. But they need to see effort on the part of the student. Make sure that if there were legitimate reasons for your not being in college, you can show them these reasons and they'll look more favourably on your case. Otherwise expect to find yourself forking out a hefty fine at best.

Ah right, well think they are much the same in terms of exam regulations. How many exams do you have to miss? Basically you will have to sit the exams that you can't do in the next available sitting which would more than likely be Spetember supplementals. You will have to pay a fee around 100 euro as far as i remember. If you fail any of the exams in September then you will sit the exam next time it is on, i.e. next January. You have 4 attempts to repeat an exam. If you fail on the 4th attempt, you can't complete the course.

If you do happen to fail in september, they MAY let you carry the subject, i.e. you can move on to the next year but you still have this exam to pass.

Hope this helps. If you are still confused just contact your Exams office or your tutor. Let them know that you cant attend the exams so they have you on record. Might be the chance that you dont loose an attempt.

Oh and in terms of not being registered OP, you can register at any time, just go into the exams office adn they will register you. You will have to pay a late fee of €60 or possibly more. But there should be no bothers in terms of registering to get your exam number
