Bad weather having a devistating effect on UK wildlife warns National Trust

Environment charity's audit reflects the damaging effect of bad weather and shows how climate change has put some species under threat

A third miserable summer in parts of the UK could spell disaster for many species of insects, birdlife and mammals, the National Trust warns today.

The National Trust says three wet summers in a row in many regions could mean that creatures ranging from daddy longlegs to species of butterflies, members of the tit family, puffins and bats may struggle to survive in some places.

This all seems kind of worrying when we also hear of "Colony Collapse Disorder" among bee hives. There are "no borders" when it comes to wildlife protection and I'm sure the same problem is reflected in Ireland.

Well, I really did notice lack decline this summer especially with the crane flies !!
Although I did see a bee land on our front wall on Christmas day ,.... he never moved and died there.

flying ants nuptial day was almost non exsistant too.

Although conditions breed life and if the trends continue , we may see something else take their place .

I did mention about the Lasius neglectus "army ant" that is already a treat in Europe. This introduced species is much more destructive than native species and can breed in the winter unlike out own.
