The link is fine now, but wasn't last night when VolvoMan posted. The server was too busy (giving 503 error messages)

It is a good site. I've always had a fondness for the R4, my dad bought a new one back in '70 and it was my first rental car in '86. :D

    Make your own one...:D

I always got a kick out of how the gearchange shaft went over the top of the engine, through a bushing and around the gearstick on top of the front mounted gearbox:PIt seemed very basic..

And the flat floor was unusual too.(love those seats!)

What is the oldest R4 in Ireland? As they were produced from 1961, I have never seen an early example. All scrapped?? Mostly 80s models I see.

A neighbour of ours used to sell fruit and veg from the back of an R4 van.. Seemed a good little work horse even though we could hear him coming about ten minutes before he knocked on the door

He then moved onto a Nissan Vanette which I fell out of when I went to work for him during holidays :o

Interesting how the wheelbase on these,as
on the renault 16 was longer on the right side than the left because of the rear torsion bar setup.
