wii controller flashing lights

Hi I was trying to set up something on the wii yesterday and I am not sure what I did but the row of lights at the end of control are all flashing and I cant seem to get into to the game I have. There also seems to be a small envelope at the corner of the screen like a message. I seem to have locked it or something . Does…

You need to sync the controller with the console. See http://www.ehow.com/how_2144692_sync-wii-remote-controller.html

You can usually ignore the envelope - this is where messages are kept. If there is a firmware upgrade (rare) it is posted here but it also keeps a record of game play.
