Hi everyone, I hear that DCU is the only college where I could could train to be a veterinary sciences in Ireland, is this true?

A back ground.I am 19,male. I have completed one year out of a five year engineering course in ITB but engineering is not really for me. I want to work with animals. My leaving cert results were not that great (300 points). Is there any way I could get into a course in DCU with regards to animals? I want to be a vet but I don't think I can enter that course right away so I will start with this.

Also, whats the deal with veterinary nursing? Could somebody currently doing a course in it please give me more information? :)

It's not the same course as the Veterinary course run in UCD. It's a different qualification

Points for that are high, have you considered studying in the UK, may be a good chance you'll find an excellent course

Not the same qualification? Please enlighten me. I would not mind studying in the uk but it costs a lot...

    Hi,
Not sure where you're getting your info but you have a lot of options.
Vet nursing is done in Athlone IT, Dundalk IT, Letterkenny IT, UCD and St Johns Central College Cork. All of these courses should be recognised by the relevant veterinary authorities and several are degree level courses.
