O2 upload speed problems

Though I can get very good download speeds with the O2 modem, my upload seems capped at around 6ksec which is abysmal for uploading photos. Is there any way to help this?

Is your connection at HSDPA/UMTS/EDGE/GPRS? If it's EDGE or GPRS then it'll be slow. If it's showing UMTS/HSDPA, then it could be up to about 300kbps, but with low signal strength, may be a lot lower.

With 1 bar HSDPA, I'm getting 2000kbps download, but only 50kbps upload, right now.

6k Bytes per sec = 60K bps which is common enough on any 3G/HSDPA system.

If you want to do serious uploading even the HSUPA or HSPA+ versions (not on 3 or O2 yet) of 3G can be very poor compared with Fixed Wireless / Metro /DSL etc. It's not Broadband.

When the 3 connection actually worked though, the upload/download were much more even. I'm on HSDPA most of the time. Usually one bar.

It's ridiculous, because I can't upload images, at all now. At least on dialup I'd be able to do that. I always get a page load error. If I upload a load of images to imageshack, it'll freeze half way through, always.

This is ridiculous, even if it's "slow" it should still work.

Also I don't seem to have a problem micspamming when playing games online; i.e. streaming music through the mic system while also playing, my ping remains arond 230 or so.

The O2 Broadband software shows speeds of 600k + on an EDGE connection!

This is ****ing ridiculous though, I can't upload 2 meg Mp3 files. I can't upload ANYTHING. It cuts out. This is an insane level of service.

Sounds to me like somebody didn't do their research before purchasing their O2 broadband - It's inherently unstable because it's 2/3G Wireless, packets are going to be lost here and there. If whatever you're uploading to wigs out over that and cancels your download then you'll just have to put up with it or find another way to upload.

Yes, it happens to me sometimes. I've not got HSUPA too so I just put up with a lack of ability to upload out here because I've no other option. I do it from my sisters house or in work when I can.

This is even more ridiculous - I can't even upload 50k jpg files. This is not "sometimes". This isn't down to 3G's faults. Even the ****ty 3 Connection managed to upload small files for me.

what is your connection like? how many signal bars are you getting? can you do a speedtest on speedtest.net and show the results? im using o2 and with one bar of signal usually get 2-3mbps download and 6-800kbps upload except at peak times when contention can severly affect my speeds.
