Yesterday my external harddrive changed from being the F: drive to the G: drive so now my shortcuts, music etc can't be seen in itunes/music players and other problems like that.

Is there a way to change the external back to the F:? I've tried turning it off, shutting down the pc, and rebooting, it's still the G:

    Any ideas to fix it?

Go into Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Computer Management, Disk Management. I think you can do it in there. Be careful though.

Also, have you started using a different USB port than you used to?

Click on start. Right click My Computer and click on Manage. This will open computer management. In there select Disk Management. This will list all the drives on your pc. Right click the external and select Change Drive Letters And Paths. This will open a new screen. Click the change button and select F from the drop down box.

Thanks for that. Working fine now. Strange that it changed though, it's been in the same USB port for a couple of years now.

It's done the same thing a couple of times since, any ideas why?
