Any place to fix a TFT screen?

Bought a screen last year, descent 19" Philips TFT screen, been dealing with the support/warranty, but this is a nightmare...So I gave up the premium phone rate calls...

Anyway the screen issue is the following: screen when turned on, stays on for about 5 secs then comes off. I have to turn it on again. But then it switches off again.

Would anyone know a place around Dublin that could fix it. I was thinking it might be just a transistor or something to change.

    Cheers in advance

Try these guys. Have never used them myself so I have no idea of prices.

Take the supplier to the SCC (Small Claims Court). Can be filed online and costs €15,

    MC

Mine died on me recently, turns out it was the transformer/power supply. Snagged a spare inthe house from a rechargeable torch. Back in business. Always pays to check the most obvious things first.

With what they're looking to charge for an old IBM PIII Laptop on the website, I'd be worried about their prices. The OP might be better buying new.

Yeah well I bought this screen at PC World. Philips screen, Philips box etc...
Exactly one year after the original purchase it broke down. Went back to PC World they told me warranty is 3 years, which is cool.

So they gave me Philips customer care number. So I call them but they never heard of my product. Serial number does not match anything. Crazy story. Finally after a few calls, one Philips guy told me this is not a Philips product but another company can handle my call.
It turned out this Philips product is ...not a Philips product, but sold under license of Philips, branded and packaged as Philips. WTF?

Anyway that pissed me so off I decided not to give them anymore money with my calls as I was just losing my time and money.

Surely somebody with too much free time on their hands could sue them, and probably win, but I have better things to do.

Yo. By the sounds of it, you've been dealing with PC World? If so, do a search through Consumer Issues on ways to... get it fixed. 2 shots of tequila, an onion, and a woman can do wonders it seems :D

    =-=

Just saw your newer post. Goto the PC World store with the screen and your reciept. Tell them that you don't have the time to call Phillips, and as you bought it off PC World, your contract is with PC World. Tell them that either they fix it, or you bring them to court.
