dog walking on roads illegal??????

just curious is it true that it is illegal to walk your dog on the road i heard it this morning from a friend who brought their dog to the vet for a check up and the vet told them that dog walking on roads is illegal

As far as I know, only if the road is a motorway, but who walks their dog along the motorway!
Do you mean like on a country road?

i am not actually sure presume so as there are footpaths in bigger populated areas

I don't think it's illegal, you could get in trouble if the dog ran onto the road and caused a crash but as far as I know that's about it.
