Quick question my brother got a new toshiba laptop this morning from santa and it has windows vista home premium on it.

There is no disk with windows vista included. Just wondering if this is the norm these days and they don't have to supply windows disk with them? To cut prices way down or whatever.

Any computer i have ever bought in my lifetime came with the operating system with it incase you had to reboot from scratch at any time.

    Maybe somebody could clarify this.

    Thanks.

It mostly likely comes with a recovery partition on the hard drive. Hitting F8 on start up should get you into the recovery partition when you follow the prompts.

Most computers don't come with windows cds with them. You can usually burn a copy of the recovery cds though and as Alan says above you can use the recovery partition on the drive to re-install windows. Bugger all use if your hard drive goes tits up mind.

You should be able to create a recovery disk. Even more, you must create a recovery disk before starting to use the laptop.
