I'm surprised that there are a some experienced judo people that don't seem to be aware of the different styles and styles within styles of judo. Not to contradict a statement I made on another thread (judo is judo) there are at least

    Kodokan judo
Kosen Judo - Judo with more focus on ne-waza (ground fighting)
Russian style of judo - less of an upright stance than the kodokan judo

And this of course doesn't even mention the individual styles to players. Some people use leg throws, some people use shoulder throws all the time.

Boxing is boxing, but there are different types (professional, amateur) and styles (inside, outside, blah blah).

We know there's different styles of judo, we also know there's trolls about - referring back to the other thread, the OP was trolling.

He was asked a simple question and skirted around answering it, do you really believe we didn't know there's differing styles?.

    I don't know :D

Any chance of filling me in?

I'm going to start Judo in Garristown in January.

I honestly didn't think that was trolling, in fact I'm quite certain.

Is that the same as saying southpaw is a different style of boxing to orthodox? Other than personal preference is there any difference in what you learn?
