email delivery problem

Hello,

I have been trying to send an email to a friend in yahoo. I get a message delivery saying it cannot send it and that it is a permanent failure. I dont understand this as the mails were going through no problem before. Any help would be appreciated as a really need to contact this person.

What exactly does it say in the email you got back? Does it give a message from the other server explaining why?

Thanks for your prompt reply it says the following:

Hi. This is the qmail-send program at yahoo.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.

Try emailing him from a different address and see if that gets through? Have you spoke to him to make sure he hasn't closed his account or anything?

I tried mailing him from a gmail account and the same thing happened. I cant get in contact with him only by email unfortunately. I just received a mail from him last Saturday, no reason why he would have closed this account. Its very strange.

Very strange. Maybe Yahoo are having problems? Not really sure then.

not sure as to the cause of your problem, but for what it's worth, i have an active yahoo email account, and some people are unable to send me email either. yahoo must have a name lookup issue on one of their worldwide email servers. tis annoying alright!
