Nero Express problems

Having a problem burning DVD-files with Nero 6. They're just DVD home movie files - no copyright stuff. Used to do a two-hour DVD in 8 minutes. Now taking 50 minutes, with buffer fluctuating wildly. While it does this it interferes with playback on WMP at the same time. When the buffer peaks I get distortion on audio playback.

I've Googled it, tried all the fixes but to no avail. Any idea anyone? Or can you recommend an alternative to Nero?

    Cheers,

    Freddie.:)

is your hard drive defragged? Are you doing other stuff while using the internet? Do you make a Disc image first?

The DVD is edited, authored, and then burned on Pinnacle (initial copy). Shrunk to file using DVD Shrink and then copies burned with Nero Express. Running a Dell Optiplex Core-Duo 3GHz with 2 GB RAM.

first make sure your hard drive is defragged if it isnt it will interefere with burning discs. Go to all program>accessories. system tools> disc defragment

You are using dvd shrink so i presume you are making a dvd folder or iso first?

Are you using WMP at the same time you
are burning the disc? i wouldnt do this as you might be taking resources away from nero

If you are authoring it yourself why are you using dvd shrink? why not just set the disc size to 4.3 gb?

Thanks for the feedback folks. Yes, you can fo that in Pinnacle, but the problem is that Pinnacle Studio has to render the completed DVD project before burning and this takes quite some time, thus converting the file through DVD shrink and back out through Nero is the most efficient was for me.

It was working fine all along. There was something about DMA on the Internet and I've tried all that to no avail.

Are you using cheap brand DVDs? Try buying a trustworthy brand such as Verbatim and see if that improves things

Try another brand of DVD, Verbatim are probably the most compatible, your burner may simply not "like" the Kodak media
