God Hates Shrimp (Taken from god hates shrimp.com (yes it is a real website and they are pretty scerious about it))

Shrimp, crab, lobster, clams, mussels, all these are an abomination before the Lord, just as gays are an abomination. Why stop at protesting gay marriage? Bring all of God's law unto the heathens and the sodomites. We call upon all Christians to join the crusade against Long John Silver's and Red Lobster. Yea, even Popeye's shall be cleansed. The name of Bubba shall be anathema. We must stop the unbelievers from destroying the sanctity of our restaurants.

    Leviticus 11:9-12 says:
9 These shall ye eat of all that are in the waters: whatsoever hath fins and scales in the waters, in the seas, and in the rivers, them shall ye eat.
10 And all that have not fins and scales in the seas, and in the rivers, of all that move in the waters, and of any living thing which is in the waters, they shall be an abomination unto you:
11 They shall be even an abomination unto you; ye shall not eat of their flesh, but ye shall have their carcases in abomination.
12 Whatsoever hath no fins nor scales in the waters, that shall be an abomination unto you.

    Deuteronomy 14:9-10 says:
9 These ye shall eat of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat:
10 And whatsoever hath not fins and scales ye may not eat; it is unclean unto you.

a lot of people quote Leviticus when expressing bigoted views about gay's I am just wondering how many are as familiar with what Leviticus says about prawns

I think the standard response is something about the bible not being interpreted literally...

    Matthew 15:11

I understand that the opposition to homosexuality is also justified on new testament grounds. I'm not much up on that scene myself.

The standard response is that in the New Testament God told Christians not to refuse to eat anything that God has made, because it is all good.

Not sure if that makes shrimp less of an abomination, or simply that it is still an abomination but you can now eat it. :pac:

God made a lot of things that we probably shouldn't eat.

Random attack... should probably be in the atheist forum...

But since it's here... Old Testament is apparently largely null and void, a history of the faith if you will. God has changed his mind about a lot of things, and if Jesus doesn't mention it in the New Testament then you can just ignore it.
    Except of course Mathew 5:17...
"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." and so on.

I won't be eating shrimp, prawns or homosexuals for Christmas dinner.

However, I do eat trolls for breakfast. So crotalus667 may consider this as a warning.

Great! Then there will be no trouble. In the mean time, you may wish to familiarise yourself with what Christians actually believe.

I thought this threaad was about opting out of Christmas dinner due to only chinese and asian restuarants [which use a lot of seafood] being open.

Thread locked since there's already a homosexually themed thread running & also because Christians don't base their views toward homosexuality on Leviticus but rather on the New Testament.
