What has happened to this guy?! He's gone from being one of the premier QB's in the league to looking utterly awful. I know alot of the blame is put on the o-line, but even when he has time in the pocket he's still not making the throws. Have all those sacks scrambled his brain or what?

Inconsistent run game with Jackson perennialy injured and underperforming. O-line non existent. Getting rid of Bruce hurt them, Avery has great potential still learning the ropes though, Holt is getting on ain't what he used to be. Defense is well useless and forces Bulger to chase games from behind thus making him to throw aggresive low percentage throws. Remember the whole organisation is in shambles at the moment without a solid head coach to lead the team. Bulger's play is reflective of the team's shortcomings in the front office.

    My opinion anyway.

As a Rams fan, I don't personally think Bulger will ever be back to his Pro Bowl numbers. There are lots and lots of reasons why he's playing so badly, including the bad O-line, the loss of Bruce, the rookie receiving corps and poor gameplanning...

But he's still playing badly. He's been getting hit a lot, so he's playing scared. He's not throwing well even when he has time. He's been dropped this year for Trent Green, for Christ's sake. After that, you either do a McNabb and throw for 900 yards and 10 TDs... or you wait till your replacement is drafted.

He'll be around next year because of cap economics, but I know most of the Rams faithful are waiting for him to move on to perennial veteran back-up somewhere else.

He was never a great QB to be honest. I think he only got into the pro bowl that year due to an injury to a higher profile player.

Don't get me wrong, he could have been something special but due to injuries and team structure changes he hasn't had anything consistent to build on.

He is the Darren "Sick Note" Anderton of the NFL.

I was thinking the very same thing about Bulger really slipping off in form.

I used to enjoy watching him whenever he was on, very sharp, accurate passer with a great supporting cast - the O-line, Bruce, Holt etc. Even got voted to the Pro Bowl twice and was MVP of one.

I think it's the O-Line thats been dragging him down they've been ravaged with injuries, Pace has been a major loss over the past couple of seasons. The Coaching staff haven't been at all great either. Scott Linehan and Jim Hasslet (sp?) have been benching him and starting him at all times. At the start of this season Bulger was benched after a 0-3 start for Trent Green, then Bulger got his job back but I now think he's back on the bench?

Yes, Bulger may not be the greatest Quarterback ever but he's been quite okay throughout the years. Also it must be remembered that he was taken in the 6th round of the draft so he's been good to be taken so low.

    1. he's shot from all the hits, he could get it back but he'll need to change teams
    2. those hits are because the line's awful. awful.
    3. Martz is no longer his coach
    4. as others said, when they're behind they have to play catch up, that results in lower percentage throws, which means holding onto the ball longer which results in more hits which results in 1

I think this says a lot.

Rams need to dedicate a high pick to a quarterback for the first time in I don't know how long. Last two QBs taken: Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jeff Smoker.

    What a joke Fitzpatrick is.
I remember that game he had when he came on to lead that big comeback vs. the Texans, everyone loved him and hailed him as brilliant, lost one or two next ones and faded away. Now the quarterback with the Bengals albeit not very good, rubbish.

Those guys make Bulger look like an elite passer!

yeah that's true because you can get some absolute stinkers at quarterback in the draft from the 3rd round onwards e.g. dan fouts, fran tarkenton, johnny unitas, montana, tom brady or warren moon.

Hey yeah you're right! Ryan Fitzpatrick is secretly a Hall of Famer!

    Answer me this, sarcastic man:

If drafting low round quarterbacks was better on average than drafting high round quarterbacks...

    WHY HAVE A DRAFT?!

Because it seems teams aswell as fans buy into hype too much.

What 2 things do the following QB's have in common:

Peyton Manning, Philip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning, Donovan McNabb, Joe Flacco, Chad Pennington, Ben Roethlisberger, Kerry Collins/Vince Young?

They're all in the play-off's and they all went in the first round of the draft. That's before we go into the Dan Marinos,Troy Aikmans, Drew Bledsoes, John Elways, this league has seen.

Yeah, you don't need to be a first round pick to be a successful QB, but it helps.
