    Hi,

Does anyone know when DTT will be enabled on the North facing array of Clermont Carn. It wasn't made available northbound for the DTT trial, but according to the plans Belfast is supposed to be getting DTT from there by the time DTT rollout is finished.

    Thanks

Are you sure about it not being available on the DTT trial in the North? I definitely saw RTE channels (TV and Radio) on a friends IDTV a few months ago and the signal must have been from Clermont Carn.

    Hi,

I remember reading that there were no North facing DTT antennae on Clermont Carn. This would back up observations. I'm in Belfast and I've a really good analogue picture for RTE1,2,TV3 and TG4 from Clermont Carn, and my DTT tuner can detect the DTT carriers from Clermont Carn but the signal is too weak for it to get any data from.

That is to say, it will indicate that it is detecting a DTT signal from Clermont Carn, but it is unable to detect the channel names, stream types, or anything at all. Tune it to an unused frequency and it will indicate no DTT is being received.

From what I saw of Clermont Carn from the N1 on New Year's Eve, there's no north-facing antenna on the second UHF stack, the one used for DTT.

There's a rollout plan proposed by Boxer somewhere on the BCI website which shows the improvements in coverage on the island at various milestones. But those milestones may go out the window with the lack of investment money these days.

:(At the moment there is only one stack of DTT tx panels on Clermont Carn and they are facing in a south to south-west direction only.

    See this thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055132427

I was up in the Summer of 2007 and took these pics then. DTT panels were facing southwest. Might pop up again to take another look in the next few weeks or so.
