Was stuck for a 1st car so bought a 98 renault clio mk1. Coast me 1400 and only had 33k miles on it with a new water pump, belts, break discs and pads. Great bargain.

However, i searched online and found a massive selection of modifying goods for my car and was wondering if it is worth going about doing the car up. Anyone with a done up clio or just general advice would be appreciated

why put your money into a car that's worth nothing and will increase your insurance?

By all means do it BUT, it will only decrease in value, dearer to insure (if yer under 25 and male its costing you a fourtune anyway) AND you will only have trouble selling it on in the future - no one wants a car that looks like its been thrashed round round the roads and abused (not sayin you will, but when selling a car its ALWAYS the first impression that counts)

Save yer money for a nice clean 306 or golf gti or more probably next years insurance!!

As said, the car won't increase in value. It, lke every other car, will only depriciate. No matter how much money you put into it, it will still be a 98 Clio.

It could be very hard to tastefully modify a Clio without spending alot of money, and it could end up looking crap.

Best bet is. Keep your first car, for your first bumps and scraps, then sell it on in 6 months, or a years time and buy something bigger and better. No point modifying it if your not going to end up keeping it.

    What he says :D.

Its tempting to go and buy something for your first car. First car is like first love. But you have to ressist to it m8. Better save money and next year ( after you get a ncb) buy something bigger and nicer.
