Does anyone know how much would it cost roughly to get a key made up for my '95 Ford Escort at a Ford dealership? Thanks

Have you the red master key?Think you need that to get it cut,i lost the master key for my mondeo when i had it and i remember there being an issue if i needed another cut.Something to do with the chip for the immobiliser?

Any good locksmiths should be able to clone the chip, and cut the key for you. Would be alot cheaper than the lads at Ford, and i would say they would charge more than 50 yo yo's no matter what the key.

Lol, sound a bit expensive for just the key, unless they gave you a VW fob as well. Those chips can cost a fair buck.

Yeah, I've the red master key. The other black key is worn down so much that it won't open the boot anymore!

To the other poster, what sort of locksmiths would be able to clone the key? Any recommendations?

The lock hospital 4534544 they are just off the south circular road. Give them a ring. They program keys too, I'd imagine that would be cheaper than a main dealers.

The wife had a cloned key cut in a locksmith's for her 02 Rav4-worked fine for a while, but then went on the blink. Seems that it 'lost it's memory' or something? I think there is a way to do a manual reset, but it's a bit of a pain. They cloned key wasn't exactly cheap either-something like €50 I think (no fob).
She eventually paid up to get a genuine replacement.

Dunno if this issue would replicate itself for other cars?

You can generally find replacement keys on e-bay-getting them coded probably isn't that easy though?
