Conscription & overweight people

    How does that one work out ?
    If someone is a) medically unfit for duty b) just too lazy to get into shape for duty ?

    What happens in countries where there is mandatory service ?
    anyone know

    If someone is unfit to serve, thats it they don't serve until they're fit. But some armies have different grades for different jobs, ie there's a job for everyone.

    A friend of mine recently completed her service with the Israeli Defence Forces despite being mildly handicapped. She served in a non-combat roll with the IDF's Foreign Affairs & Liason Branch in Northern Command.

    If your just too lazy, well basic training is going to be tough - tough shit.

    I wonder whether that would help the level of overweight people in ireland. hmmm

    The swiss make you pay a higher rate of income tax for the rest of your life.

    Fail to serve and I believe you pay two or three percent more income tax for the rest of your life until you do your time in the militia. However I have a feeling this might apply to those genuinely unable to serve either through physical disability. Need to look into it more.
