I am buying a Yoyota from UK. I am getting a warrenty of a year, 3 months off the actual toyota warrenty and an extended nine months from the garage, they tell me that this nine months is a full toyota guarentee and can be used in Ireland. Is the correct? Thoughts appreciated.

I'd be a bit suspicious of this. Maybe check with Toyota Ireland?

The manufacturers portion of the warranty can be used - 3 years from date of first registration. The extended dealer warranty is exactly that and is most likely useless in Ireland. But no harm to take Anan1's advice and check with Toyota Ireland.

That said, ask the dealer that should a repair arise in this 'extended' period, ,can you pay for the repairs here and claim it back from the dealer that supplied the car?

The UK Toyota Warranty will be valid here (the three months), Any other warranty will not be valid here as far as im aware.

Also with relation to claiming warranty for a UK import it is a pain in the arse, The claim must be submitted to toyota ireland then toyota uk and then both have to approve it.

Also be sure that there aint over 60k on the clock if there is there's no warranty.

Personally i would not like to bring a car back to UK for warranty work, which after 3 months you will have to do.

forget about the warranty , ask for a price without it , you will get the car cheaper , warranty is a ploy to capture a sale , unless car is new , another stroke by car companys

a buddy of mine had a similar situation on a car he brought in. He got the supplying dealer to make an arrangement with a local dealer beforehand to cover anything that may arise. Could be worth a shot maybe

    Makes perfect sense that does.

See threads on clutch failure, turbo failure, electrics failure etc in this forum. Might open your eyes to the importance of a warranty.
