I was in work yesterday. Its a slow week. I was basically on boards the whole day, and i'm sittin beside the boss this week.

Anyway, at bout 2pm he turns and is like "Here listen, ya cant be on that site all day. People are starting to say things to me!".

Nothing was ever said to me before this week when i was in a different seat with my monitor facing inwards! what a load of bullcrap! what else am i meant to do while theres no work to be done??

This deserves a combined YOREMA-FAIL-IDONTKNOWWHATATRACKERMORTGAGEIS!!

Sounds like you need something like this: http://www.download.com/1770-20_4-0.html?query=quick+hide+boss&tag=srch&searchtype=downloads&filterName=platform%3DWindows&filter=platform%3DWindows

I had a version installed at a place I use to work in. Saved my ass a few times. :D

    Either that or move monitor/desk?

Tell your boss your monitoring the sote to see if any else there from work is constantly on it!
Insist that you are doing it for his own good and you been working do hard doing it, you deserve a pay rise.

Aaa thats where you either download your chosen app and bring it on a usb stick, email the item from yourself outside the office or email yourself a downloadable link like a rapidshare link (that you have uploaded the app to). ;)

Bah! @ title. Boards isn't frowned upon in your workplace, it's your obvious and indescrete slacking. Odd that.

Just about all companies have internet proxy servers, a machine which shares out internet access to the company network.
They can easily log all sites visited by any machine on the network.

Whether or not anyone checks it, and makes a report of eg. sites visited outside of lunchhours depends on how anal they are about it.
But just so ye know, that information is definitely available to internal support departments if they were ever asked to produce a report of sites visited.

Maybe you can spend the time learning to use the word "my"!

I believe if you subscribe to the boards you can get a letter from the Admins to give to your work to say you are a boardsie which will allow you to browse boards in work.

    check out http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=311348
    I assume a Mod/Admin will confirm this.

And this is why users don't get local admin in most companies.

Lazy fecker. Do some work. So what if there's nothing to be done, I;m sure you could ASK your boss what do do next and he'd answer with something other than 'boards.ie'...
