Taking up Football again

    Hey all

I haven't played football since minor and admittedly was an average player.

I have just turned 31 but have been getting a hankering to play again as have been doing some running recently and would like to get involved in a team sport to help stay fit.

Am living in Galway city and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on getting back into it at a casual level?

    Cheers

Find a club near you and make sure they have a junior b side that way you should get games!

Adding to this I could do with a little guidance. Myself and my girlfriend have decided to move to Dublin in the New Year, partly because I'm sick of England and also to be closer to her parents who moved to Wicklow from the West.

I played a bit of football when I was a lot younger and like the previous poster wasn't anything special and it was always just a bit of a laugh growing up in an area with a large Irish community (brilliant seeing the All-Ireland final take pride of place over Sky's stale soccer coverage).

Anyway the missus said she reckons taking it up would be a good way of meeting and making new friends outside of work when we move over. Not in touch with any of the lads I used to knock about with so if anyone has got any tips in playing football (albeit not at a high standard at all) in Dublin I'd be very grateful.

    Merry Christmas as well.

    Hey,

Let us know when you move to Dublin which part of Dublin you are living and either myself or some other Dubs on here can advise you on which local club to join.

Cheers for that matey. Lots to try and sort out between then and now but fingers crossed. Think in the mean time I'll try and get myself down to Ruislip a few times next year.

anybody here play for kilmacud crokes? i live in dundrum so i think kilmacud would be the nearest club....im thinking of transferring to dublin, but not sure. dont get home as often as i need to hold down a place on the team at home. would like to give their intermediate team a try, wouldnt be decicated or good enought perhaps to make their senior team.

Could that advice apply to myself also? i'm living in Dub 8 permanently, not totally sure what team would be closest although an old mate of mine used to play for Good Counsel however they dont have a website to get info about the club:( but i'm willing to travel by bus to somewhere else haha:)

Oh i would like to be playing sticks btw at a low level since i've usually only dossed about with some mates a few years ago heh.
