I see the PSNI rammed suspected robbers. Is this acceptable in their disciplinary code. I presume they were in one of those shogun jeeps.

I would love to see more authorised rammings being allowed in both the PSNI and the Gardai.

More and more individual police drivers are left to decide to ram a car when they feel it is necessary to bring things to a safe conclusion.

If things turn out ok its fair play to them, however if things go tits up there could be a criminal charge againat the police driver.

And in seperate news two suspected criminals are in hospital after a pursuit in kerry. Glad to see none of the gardai were injured.

Deciding to run from the police in a car really is putting yourself in grave danger

I presumed it would have been a tangi, it was just up the road from me.
I'd have given away all my christmas presents to have seen it happen.

There was an article in the GRA mag maybe about 2-3 months of two patrol cars ramming a stolen car. I think it happened in Kilkenny where a stolen car was spotted in traffic and members gave chase. The chase lasted several miles and went off main roads onto back roads. The patrol car was joined by another. On this back road the stolen car was heading towards a Primary School just when kids were leaving for the day. It was decided to ram the stolen car off the road to prevent it getting anywhere near the school kids.

    Heroic stuff

I read that article. Was very dramatic in how it stopped only yards from the pedestrian crossing :)
