    Hi

I've been playing for 2 years now and it's time to upgrade to something other than my stentor student fiddle. I made the mistake of trying a friends lovely fiddle recently, and it was AMAZING!!! I live in Leitrim but willing to travel.

Also my husband would like to upgrade his piano accordion.

Are there any particular shops, or individuals, that specialise in these instruments?

    Many thanks, Rebecca

    Hi,

Crehans off Griffith Avenue in Dublin are excellent for fiddles. Have a look at www.crehans.ie I think they are related to the well known musician 'Junior Crehan'

They sell instruments and accesories aimed at both classical and traditional fiddle, they also know a good deal about the different lessons/tutors out there.!

Ask for Niall who also plays fiddle around the Maynooth/Kilcock area at times.

    Thanks for the info.

I got a lovely fiddle from Gerry O'Connor up in Dundalk who is a very well known player and also qualified in making/restoring fiddles. He has over 30 there to choose from ranging from €350 to over €3000. I spent the best part of a day there trying them all and the highlight of the day was hearing Gerry play my favourite 3 to help with the final selection.

Highly recommended route to find a great fiddle from a real gentleman.
