    Hi Everyone,
I'm moving to Dublin and I'm interested in maximising my choice of drinking holes. I'm curious if there are any pubs in Dublin in which senior GAA people are known to regularly use (eg people employed by the organisation and senior players/managers who visit Dublin). Also, if such a pub exists, I'd like to know what it's generally like to drink in. Thanks

I don't think there are any GAA pubs per se. A lot of the players from Dublin and the other counties regularly drink in Copperface Jacks on Harcourt Street. Apart from that, you tend to see the older members drinking in their respective clubs. The likes of Kevin Heffernan, Brian Mullins et al drink in Vincents. Same goes for pretty much every club.

As An Citeóg says, there are no real pubs that you can say you will definitely find senior GAA figures. Some just have their own locals and some will drink in their own GAA clubs. Just as a general idea, go to any pub within the Croke Park area on a big match day, or pubs near other GAA venues on other match days, and you will find plenty of GAA people. They may not be well known people, but the ordinary GAA folk can be just as entertaining and have a very good insight on the game. As well as pubs near venues and GAA clubs, there are lots of other GAA pubs in Dublin, and on big match days you'll find GAA folk there too. We may not be senior GAA people, but groups of us meet up regularly now on match days and we'll talk GAA to you.

Yeah, I was thinking this myself. Besides, who have you ever met that wants to drink with a county board or central council member other than their friends. I doubt there's many people hanker after a pint with "senior people".

Why do you want to meet senior people in the GAA in Dublin Amadeus?

Any pub near Croker. Quinns in Drumcondra is a very strong GAA pub ,also Meaghers of Ballybough ( back of Croke Park ) is a real Dubs pub full of Dublin memorabilla. The Portobello near Rathmines has what they call a Jersey night during the championship months. I think they give you a free pint if you turn up in a GAA shirt on Mondays. It's a late night pub also.
My club in Cabra, Naomh Fionnbarra http://www.naomhfionnbarra.ie/ has one of the best club houses in Ireland - even if I say so myself.

Coppers is a kip like all bars on Harcourt Street with their anti-northside elitism only allowing southsiders or boggers. As for GAA pub the handball alley in croke park not sure if its still open or quinns is where a lot of fans hang out

The idea of Nicky Brennan having groupies is sick. Similarly enough with Gerry Harrington. Wouldn't find him in the city anyway I'd imagine. Some nice locals out Naomh Mearnog way.
