Engagement Ring trip - Antwerp or Belfast?

    Hi guys,
after posting some while ago on here asking whether Antwerp or Amsterdam is best to go for engagement rings I had decided that Antwerp was my best option.

However with the sterling and euro almost 1 for 1 now, would I benefit even more from a trip up north? Newry or Belfast say?

Does anyone have any experience of shopping for an engagement ring up north, or can anyone recommend good jewellers up there?

Just weighing both up Antwerp v Belfast I'm trying to see where I would get the best deal.

Also I'm thinking of spending around 2500 - 3000 euro on the ring.
Is that enough of a cost for me to justify travelling to Antwerp to make a saving.

    Any help would be appreciated.

I purchased an engagement ring in Lunns and the service was excellent. Ring in which we both picked was outstanding with yellow diamonds. We both plan to get are wedding rings there within the next two months.
Could not praise them highly enough.
Looked at a few places in Dublin and the quality and price would not compare. Also in Dublin we got the feeling as if we were being looked down on, like not good enough to spend 3500 in there shops.

We got our engagement ring in Lunns in Victoria Square in Blefast. We were thinking of going to Antwerp aswell but their prices are very competitive. We found them absolutely brilliant to deal with. A few weeks after we got the ring my fiance found it to be too big so we had to get it resized two times with no questions asked [something to think about if you're going to Antwerp]. Their staff are very friendly and welcoming. We'll be going back for the wedding rings very soon.

we checked out prices in ireland, antwerp and dubai. i found antwerp and dubai much better value for money. we've decided to get my ring in dubai. we were intending on going on a holiday so decided to go to dubai and get the ring there in a jewellers we've purchased from before. its ending up 6000 euro cheaper. we can afford to buy a much better colour, carat and cut abroad.
a friend of mine got hers in antwerp and couldnt recommend it highly enough. theres very good info. on antwerp and dubai diamonds on www.tripadviser.com . jj katz or phillipe harold seem to be frequently recommended in antwerp.its cheap enough to book a couple of flights to Charleroi with Ryanair and get a train (about 1hr) to antwerp. make it a special weekend to remember forever.

I'm heading over to Phillipe Harold in about 6 weeks. My cousin recommended him to me. He also gives you a code you can give to other people, and the next time you go over to him, he'll discount your next purchase by 1% for every time the code was given at time of purchase.

Another thumbs up for Lunns in Belfast from me. We found them so nice and they had a brilliant selection of top quality rings. They put absolutely no pressure on us to buy and spent lots of time with us educating us on the 4 C's. 20% off if you buy your wedding band with them too
