When in God's name are ntl going to stop this blatant stealing?
It must be an inside worker so it'll probably happen even when they send us out our new cards. Feck sake, hopping mad!!

I don't think it requires an insider - the encryption used has been hacked so it's now the case that anyone with a basic knowledge of technology can get access.

The only power UPC have is to make it a nuisance for the user; that is, as you say, until the cards/boxes are changed and the whole network is upgraded.

How do you know proper users are not out of pocket? I'm a bit cynical about this argument if I'm honest but there's a logical case to be made for the suggestion that honest customers are paying extra to compensate for the loss UPC make on the dishonest ones.

As I said, I'm not convinced that prices would be lower if everyone watching UPC-based cable in Ireland was paying UPC for the privilege; however it cannot be said with any hint of certainty that they would not.

In other words, you cannot tell someone to shut the fúck up because it doesn't impact on their lives when you don't know whether it does or not.

Besides - it's a pretty meek stance to take on things; I suppose people should shut the fúck up about innocent people getting stabbed unless they are connected in some way to the victim?

I was just taking his argument to its eventual conclusion.

I'm not sure why someone has to be directly effected by a crime in order to want something done about it or to have an opinion on it.

Such aggression is uncalled for. Obviously the reason I care is because I pay for the service, they don't. I will not get a dodgy box nor will I stfu.

Now when it gets so easy that oaps can rob cable TV something is going wrong.
