I use Whereisthefreespace to tell where the large files are. And you can use Appzapper to remove programs.

Also empty your iPhoto and iMovie trashcans, they are separate to your normal one.

Try monolingual - it removes any language files that you may not want. It can remove one or two gigs from your drive. Be very careful when using this though as if you remove system languages you may need to reinstall.

There's also a program to remove the PowerPC parts to your 10.5 build. Thats assuming your on an Intel. I personally wouldn't do it, but some do.

I used to use the app Whatsize to find out the large files in your folders but I just realised that there is a thing on OSX4 (at least) that calculates your folder sizes and sorts them by size.

Just open a finder window and view by list, show the file sizes, and then go to Finder-View-Show view options - Calculate All Sizes must be checked. Can't believe I just saw this now!

/actually that only works for me if I go to my root HD first and then check the button and drill down from there, not when I'm in a random folder on the finder. strange

Using this to free up some room on my old iBookG4. It's actually removing all the languages from every program, not just OSX. I'll report back how much it frees up.

hmm downloaded whereisthefreespace and didn't find it too helpful as it kept crashing on me....installed it twice and no change! odd.
