DVD Ripping

This is probably a stupid question, but I'll ask anyway, how do you rip a DVD from it original format to an .Avi or Divx? I have loads of DVD's that are getting wrecked by kids fingerprints that I would like to Rip onto my HTPC and watch them from there. Mods feel free to move if this is the wrong place to ask a question…

Handbrake is a nice open source software for converting unencrypted dvds to avi files.

I'm not saying how to decrypt them on here.

Many here could easily tell you but there is understandably, forum rules that applies.

There is free and LEGAL sites such as www.download.com that you might want to try out.
