I'm off xmas eve and xmas day.

Then I work 6 shifts in a row, finishing up at midnight on new years eve!!!!!

Then I have new year's day and the 2nd off.

Not too bad, considering I'm in A+E at the moment.

Plus, as I'll be in public health next year, I'm hoping to take my 6 weeks off to go home to Ireland from early december until mid january next xmas, so that keeps me going.

    What's everyone else doing?

I'm off today, working next 2 days. On call on the 27th, I think next week is a normalish week for us (I'm on a a surgical team). On my first medical call on New Year's Day - not exactly looking forward to it.

    just did 24th, 25th, 26th and then 29th and 30th.

A&E was hopping the whole time - it was nuts - why on earth are people out of their homes on christmas day wandering about the streets at night getting stabbed - should be home in their beds!

People don't stop getting sick or breaking bones just because it's Christmas - what a bummer. Only jobsharing, but I'm working tomorrow - did 24th, 27th, 29th, 30th, 31st.

Just finished the new years eve shift.

Was supposed to finish at midnight on the dot, but didn't get out til almost 4am, as it was so busy.

Some of the kids were sick, but most weren't.

What on earth makes people bring their kid to A+E at 10 to midnight on new years eve to get a rash checked that "she's had for 5 weeks now".

"what the hell is wrong with the human race nowadays??? Can people just not cope with any kind of illness anymore???" was the most common quote heard in the department tonight :P

I was being vomited on at midnight. Didn't even notice the bells :P
