    Hi this is my first post so sorry in advance if its in the wrong section.

    Im looking for a bit of information.


    1. i need to source a group of ten Magnifing glasses Starting at 5inchs down to 1 inch for an experiment i want to carry out.

    2. Does anyone have a formula for calculating the heat produced from a magnifying glass

    the concentrated energy received through the glass or with a reflected mirror is the difference between the two area sizes. In other words, if the magnifying glass is 1sq M and the concentrated light is 1sq CM then the energy at the smaller end is a 100 times greater. There is no extra energy received any greater than the original surface area. Be careful with this, it can be dangerous!

    aldi or lidl have a biggish magnifing glass for a few quid

    you could then make a cardboard mask with a hole in it for the other sizes

    it's actually 10,000 times greater ;)
    they melt steel beams with the one in France
