    Folks,

What sort of cable do I need to run to cater for a intercom with display that I want to install at the front gate....

    CAT5 or CT100 ?

    thanks. p.

This is usually 5-pair poly-poly multistranded cable. Waterproofed and stronger than CAT5.

Better to put it in some sort of ducting - waterpipe or Wavin.

Don't think you can use TV cable.

    Sounds good !

I guess I can source that from the local electrical supplier...

    Many thanks. P.

To be sure what I always do is run a coax and two CAT5's. RG59 coax will suffice. Some intercoms need coax, some don't. Most only need one CAT5 for both but its better to be sure by putting in the extra cables.

as above run two cables orone cable with twice the capacity incase at a later stage you need to upgrade or need to install something else
