    Hi
    I have a 80cm dish with 6deg monobloc
i have my dish at 1w.
the signal is good when no rain
    i get 80% on 0.8w and 65% on 1w channels
but when it rains, and after rain stops
the signal on 1w goes to 20%

i have to wipe the lnb and dish, dry it and then after a while
    the strength increases.

    is there any solution?

    (no changing of dish/lnb now)

80cm is too small for 1W in Ireland, especially to the West/South

Get a bigger dish (110cm) or Move :)

Monoblocks are bad news. They are designed for specific locations and model of dish as the spacing and skew needed changes with location, source satellites and exact construction of dish. In Ireland a pair (or more) of separate LNBs with separate DISEQC switch will always work better and easily allows QUAD LNB or up to 4 LNBs.

There is absolutely nothing sensible you can do about rain other than a larger Dish.
LNB changes are marginal compared with larger dish.

    :(

Astra 19E and Hotbirds 13E have a lot of strong channels.

    came home
wiped the water on the lnb and dish
oola...the channels were back with good strength

looks like i have to cover the lnb with a tesco plastic bag :-)

I had same problem with 1w wrt rain. I googled and found a template for a rain shield for the lnb. It is made from an old coke bottle and taped onto the lnb. It stops the rain droplets hitting & sitting on the face of it. I also "rain'd" the disk face (screnn clear from halfords). This makes the rain bead and runoff quickly.

After taking these steps I had much less rain fade (unless very heavy rain).

I know there are a number of schools of thought on this but it seemed to work for me.

good luck! bte I have a 1m dish in the east of NI and still had the rain fade!

most of the digitv transponders are very weak, even a 1.1m dish and larger will not cure the rain fade. Only some of the new transponders on thor 5 (European beam) are very strong, infact i find some canal+ transponders stronger than 28east!

80cm is bare-min for DigiTv on 1w, I'm on an 88cm and in lashing's of rain she'll have break-up, most of the time there's no probs at all.
