Gimp & Gif Files.

I have a GIF file & there is some writing on it that I want to remove.

If I remove it using something like paint it no longer performs as a GIF, it loses it's animation.

I think Gimp will do it for me but I don't understand how to deal with layers (not even sure if I'm on the right path with the layers).

Can anyone explain how to remove some text from a GIF file & still retain the animation using Gimp.

i dont much about gimp but i have used photoshop a (small) bit. You dont need to use layers you could draw directly onto the gif. Layers are there mainly so you dont make a mistake. . So make sure you save it under a different filename so that you still have the original. But i think you have to do each frame individually so it will take a while.

ouldnt you do it in ms as you say then export each frame as a tiff

If i was you i would import it into flash. Then put cover the writing with something and export it again
