A business can charge what they want for a product or service, its up to you whether you pay it or not, and obviously some of you guys are paying these prices or Ireland wouldn't be an expensive place to shop.

Seriously all this "Rip Off Ireland" talk is bollocks

"OMG Marys Corner shop in Ballina is charging €2.50 for a bottle of coke that was produced in Nigeria and only costs Mary €0.30 per bottle"

SHOP SOMEWHERE FOOKING ELSE AND SOON ENOUGH MARY WILL DROP HER PRICES!

we've had threads like this explaining this numerous times, clearly nobody bothers using the seartch option and this thread will sadly not change anything

People sometimes don't search for products, just as they sometimes don't look around forums much.

The words 'Rip Off' as expressed here are an opinion by an individual or individuals who feels an person or business is charging an excessive ammount for a product or service. They ussualy back up their claim with evidence of the item/service a lot cheaper elsewhere.

This keeps people 'informed' and often helps them to get a better bargain. If you think it is 'a load of bollocks' I suggest you just skip over the forum. There are hundreds of other forums here on boardsie for you to read.

I'd say 90% of the threads made here at boards have been made before but thanks

I have to agree with OP, a lot of threads cover items or situations already covered and recently 75% are about "Rip offs" and "Scams", although in effect they are about prices and the ever necessary need to price around.
Can we refer to things being cheaper elsewhere or bargains available rather than Rip-offs. There were always variences in the prices of goods and services across different suppliers. That has been the case for decades. Why now refer to all as Rip-off?

A ripoff (or rip-off) is a bad deal. Usually it refers to an incident in which a person pays too much for something. A ripoff is distinguished from a scam in that a scam involves wrongdoing such as fraud; a ripoff, on the other hand, is in the eye of the beholder. --- wikipedia

in a business you charge what you think you can get away with if people stop buying from you have to do something (reduce prices or offer a better service of some sort)
irish retailers dont seem to have realised this basic fact.

at the end of the day businesses today are there to make money and (mostly) provide dividend s to shareholders customers come a very poor third to this .
