    Hi,

I hope i am in the right place. What does my TV licence pay for? Does it pay for RTE One and Two? Why do i have to pay NTL to watch these channels?

Forgive my stupidity and feel free to blast me for it but please also be so kind as to answer my questions.

    Thanks

Your television licence allows you to have a television tuner at your home. It has nothing to do with watching RTÉ.

And also, you must have it even if you don't watch tv unless you can prove that the TV tuner monitor is used for just a monitor

What is forcing you to pay NTL to receive them, anyway? They're transmitted free to air in both analogue and digital terrestrial formats.

How do you get free to air digital channels? What do you need and how does it receive them?

Check the stickies , you will find all necessary info there
First you need to know if there are DTT tests in your area before you think about anything else...
