Howdy! Um, well, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this but I hope someone here might enlighten me.

I'm thinking of getting one of these: http://www.aldi.ie/ie/html/offers/2827_7833.htm and I was wondering if I can put it into my Nissan Almera. And would it be the sort of job I could do myself (minimal DIY skills)?

what radios currently in your almera ? , worst case you need to spend 20 euro on an ISO adapter for it, not hard to connect at all

    Hi EC,

The radio currently in my Almera is the bog-standard radio it came with. Its kind of integrated into the panel which makes me wonder how I'd remove it.

But below it is what is currently the banana-skin-and-used-tissue slot which I presume is for installing gadgets in a posher model (its that kind of width - i.e. about the size of a radio/CD unit).

But I don't know how to access anything into which to plug the new radio.

c (which today stands for clueless!)

    what year is the almera?

A friend of mine paid someone to do this for her. I don't think you'd easily di it yourself. They had to take out the panel and replace it with a new one when they fitted the CD player. You'll also lose your steering wheel controls.

Oh dear. Good point re the steering wheel controls colser. Hmm. This is beginning to look a bit less attractive now.

    It's a 2001 Nissan Almera Cionad.

The steering wheel controls won't work once you disconnect the original head unit.

You can put the radio in where the empty slot is under the head unit, this you could nearly do yourself as it screws out easily. I know somebody put in a nice pioneer Headunit in there, perfect fit!

If this is the type of facia you have here, then this will fit it. You can easily get the ISO adapter cables and steering wheel controls from ebay.

Ah OK, I installed one in the previous model but that was not built into the facia nor did it have steeling wheel controls, so I'm no use to ya!

I'm actually in the middle of doing the same thing. Same model Almera. I'd like to keep the steering wheel audio remote functioning if possible, but I can't seem to find an adaptor for it anywhere. Does anyone know where I could find one or if it's even possible to get them?

They are certainly available for the Almera Tino MPV, not sure about the normal Almera.

Yeah. I can only find the adaptor for the Tino. Well balls. I liked having the remote controls on the wheel.

I'm back! Still with the old radio.

Lidl are now selling a car radio that I like the look of. Am giving up on installing it myself. Can anyone recommend someone reliable who can do install the radio for me (including hooking up to the steering wheel controls)? (I'm in Dublin 12)

First you need to find a stereo that's compatible with your controls

Hope that helps. If you want the steering wheel controls to work some cd players come with the adopter.

    Thanks for your replies.

How do I know if the radio is compatible with my controls?

Any suggestions for someone/somewhere to do the install? How much is that likely to be?

    http://www.cannotfindserver.co.uk/almera_headunit.php

This shows you how to do the wiring. It will tell you on the box, information if it is able to be used with steering wheel control. To be honest most are not compatiable. Its easy enought to do. Halfords will put it but hate giving money to them. Maybe a motor factors mite do it?

hey Coolaboola, did you get you radio sorted?? I have the same problem, been putting it off now for about 2 years, but the radio volume is now randomly going to max volume every few mins so its now time to change:rolleyes: I got a radio from aldi bout 2 years ago with mp3 and all that and wondeing if it will be compatible. Did you put in the Lidl one?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 254 ✭✭coolaboola

    Hey (again!)

Finally decided to buy a new car radio ... Aldi's best! It's sitting on the kitchen table waiting to be installed. The more I read the more I'm inclined to go pay someone more capable in these matters than me to do it.

As mentioned before I have a Nissan Almera 2001. It has the Type B stereo - one that can come with an optional CD changer (but doesn't in my case - instead I have the banana skin and used tissue slot where the CD changer would go in a posher model). I'm wondering if I can (get someone else to) install the new radio where the CD changer would go and integrate it with the existing stereo and associated controls? Has anyone done this?

    c

Not to be bringing up a long dead thread again

Mods my apologies if this should be a new one

How easy or hard is it to intsall an android radio on a 2006 Almeria

Is it worth the hassle or would it be expensive to get someone to fit it

The problem is the radio panel is failry integrated to the dashboard

    Old thread lock

Create a brand new thread in Upgrades and Audio and don't bring up old threads, because the info in them is probably stale, it's about a different car. users have left and many other reasons.
