    Hi there,

Could someone answer the following please:

I'm looking to set up a LAN party between two PS3's.

    1. Has anyone had experience of networking 2 PS3's together (via a single ethernet cable). If so can you give a guide on whats needed.

    2. Was interested in playing COD4, do we need two copies of the game to play or will just the one copy do (I'm not interested in playing split screen off the one tv)?

If you don't mind, please only answer if you have had actual experience of LAN gaming with a PS3.

    Cheers,
    Manster

1.Youll need a crossover cable, which are more expensive than normal ethernet cables.
    2. Not sure on this one.
    DISREGARD!!!

Wait a minute, cud ya not just use the wireless on both Ps3's? I doubt that needs an acess point, they should be able to communicate as is.

That sounds interesting. How do you wireless (ly) connect two PS3's. I presume you'd have to use a router and do some sort of bridge between them. Anyone try this?

You would both need the same game alright.
I would say you will need to both connect to the Playstation network to see your friend !

I'm don't think the PS3 wireless supports Ad connections.

However for a direct cable connection you just have to go into manual setup and give one IP to the PS3 IE 192.168.1.1 and the second gets 192.168.1.2
The only other connection you should have to enter is the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 , however all of this might be useless since I don't think two PS3s are made for direct connection to each other.

i dont have a ps3 but have done 360 lans many a time, you could just hook up the ps3 using ethernet to your router to play lan.Btw cod4 only allows 1 per sonsole on lan,bit of a bitch when i had 12ppl getting rdy to go at cod4 on 3 consoles when we find out its only 1 per console
