    Hi,

I work in a betting shop. When I work Sunday's I get paid time and a half.
Also for public holidays I get paid my normal hourly rate + 8hrs.
I was just wondering what overtime rate other betting shop workers get for working sunday's.

    Thanks

You're getting the right pay for bank holidays, as for Sundays, i'm certain you should be on double time? Unless working sundays is part of your regular working week in your contract of employment?

the rate for sunday is whats in their contract. could be time and a third could be triple there is no set rate for sunday.

I work part-time in a bookies and we get time and a half for full-time staff and time and a quarter for part-timers.
Although some-one told me that they could pay you anything they wanted up to four hours but after that it had to be double-time. Anyone verify this as I had never heard it before, looked it up but couldn't find any info!

Don't believe it myself but he runs his business.

It depends on if it's part of your regular hours or not. If you work 39 hours plus a Sunday, you're entitled to overtime. If it's part of your regular working week (e.g. Wed-Sun) then it qualifies as un-sociable hours and you're entitled to compensation based on that.

used to work for ladbrokes a few years ago and it was double time on sundays for everyone. I've had other jobs where sundays were treated the same as any other day - no extra cash. think the bookies was different because it never usually had sunday opening so they had to sweeten the employees that were used to working only 5 or 6 days a week. now as sunday opening is pretty standard i suppose the bookies will try and trim back the extra wages on a sunday

A girl I know that works in Ladbrokes told me yesterday that they are cutting Sunday from double to time and a half. They are also getting time and half and a day in lieu instead of the treble time.

I'm getting worried they might try force this in across the board.
