Toshiba Satellite Pro A300D Running Really Slow

    In the last couple of weeks I bought a new Toshiba Satellite Pro A300D-14O.

    It's running on Windows Vista Business (SP1).

    My gosh is it running slow. Startup takes at least seven to ten minutes (from when I press the power button to when I can actually use it. While the internet seems to run relatively fast everything else is generally sluggish.

    Whenever I switch to iTunes it (iTunes) freezes for a couple of seconds.

    The specs are as follows:

    Processor: AMD Turion X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile Processor ZM-80 - 2.1 GHz
    System Memory: 3,072 (2,048 + 1,024) MB (DDR2 RAM (800 MHz))
    Operating System: Windows Vista Business Edition
    Paging File Size: 3113MB

    Can anyone give me some advice on what I can do to speed it up?
