Little Big Planet is the best choice.

Also, pick up Loco Roco off the online store.

LittleBigPlanet is utterly charming and magical...but can be deceptively tricky in the later levels.. I think it's still the best choice though, I remember myself as a kid finding even some mario levels to be very challenging but it builds good gaming character ;) You can also play through levels together in LBP (up to 4 people), so you can help them out if they get stuck.

The Ratchet & Clank games are good too.

Singstar is great. For you, Singstar 1,2 or 3. For the missus, Singstar ABBA.

For the kids, Sing-it (Disney, High School Musical etc.) is available on special in Smyths. Buy one Sing-it with mics and get another Sing-it solus free. Both for €50.

Spot on. Got an 80gb PS3 with little big planet, Motor Storm and Resistance 2 for €399 in Argos (had to tell them there was a deal on for this otherwise was getting only 1 game ) Got singstar but they knew nothing about getting the 2 for one deal (and nothing advertised).

But... R&C is about shooting things.
    With GUNS!
Big, shiny, explodey-stuff guns. And the disco-ball gun. And exploding robots. And...
    ...

    ... I think I'm drooling again, sorry.
