    Hi all,

    Cross posted from fitness.

Im looking to get some proper running shoes but Im clueless as to where to start or where to buy them.

Can anyone recommened a shoe and somewhere/link I could purchase them?

Ive heard the asics gel series are very good but there are quite a few types within the series.

I do about 30k a week atm and hope to increase that gradually.

    Thanks for all your help.

Edit: Actually while I'm on the subject, I also want to get some sort of heart rate monitor/stopwatch etc Am thinkin the Garmin Forerunner50 but obv if someone can recommend something better for cheaper Ill be happy out.

This place is pretty good. They do a range of brands and will advise you on what's the best shoe for you.

Don't know anything about HR monitors...

Check out wiggle. The guys in the cycling forum use it all the time, excellent prices and service and now with sterling so low...

I cycle but they do stuff for running/triathlon too and I bought my sister a Garmin Pedometer for christmas. I have a polar computer/HRM for my bike so I would recommend their HR monitors.

No problem, they are savage alright and I have never been waiting more than 5 days for a delivery. The flipside is that you end up spending a lot of your hard earned cash there!

Be on the lookout for threads like this over in cycling: Click me!

They send out vouchers at random that can be redeemed for about €5 off a purchase. Unlimited use, very handy.

Sorry about that Rigal, I should have mentioned this in my original post :o

Also, their own brand DHB stuff is very cheap and pretty good quality.

Woops, I don't know if they own it, but I think they are the exclusive retailers for it...I'll find out more!

EDIT: Ok, just to avoid confusion, from the wiggle website "Wiggle source all dhb products in bulk, direct from the manufacturer. This means we cut out all the money that is usually spent by importers and distributors on marketing, advertising and expensive race teams. Result: you get the very best quality kit at an amazing price!"

Calling all Dubs: Heathers Shoe Shop on the Quays (top of Church Street, opposite the Brazen Head) is selling Asics Gel Oberons as well as various New Balance runners for 20 euro. Limited sizes remaining so it's a bit of a lucky dip.
