Ok need a bit of help. Got a free computer through a friends work.

Its a Sun Microsystems Sunblade 100. Inside looks grand 256mb ram, hard drive, graphics card, cd drive, cpu and heatsink.

Now when i turn it on up pops

Sun Blade 100 , Keyboard Present
OpenBoot 4.0, 256 MB memory installed, Serial #12134241.
Ethernet address 8:0:20:b9:27:61, Host ID: 80b92761

with a white background with sun logo, and an "ok" prompt.

Dont know what operating system is on this if any, i would be looking to wipe whatever is on it and install xp (have xp on disc).

    Anybody any pointers ???

I would imagine that Sun Solaris is installed.

I dont think you can install windows xp on Sun architecture.

Yes, another vote for Open Solaris (or indeed Solaris -- it's quite user friendly). There's a SPARC port of Debian as well.
