I am developing a website using java, tomcat, and jsps. I have a text area that my client wants to be able to format the text in, to a certain degree. Much like the editor being used to add this text. Can anyone recommend an open source widgit that I can use in this environment? For example I am using Simple Calendar…

you want something like tiny mce? i'm not sure if that's compatible though?

If you are using a Java Server (Tomcat) you could try ICEFaces which provides rich JSF AJAX components.

Otherwise try the dojo toolkit
