Better driving talent can be seen any Sunday at an autotest around the country with near bog standard cars.

That's a heavily edited video.I bet he destroyed that pole@3.00 plenty of times before they got that shot. Any autotest video you see is ONE take only.

106gti driver actually, and I'd say I'm a fair bit better than someone who calls this "rubbish".

Havent you heard? Subaru couldnt be arsed with it anymore. Cant say i blame them. Its been ****e with years.

As for a WRC car being a real challenge? Pffft...300hp and a ridiculous amount of driver aids makes WRC now one of the less challenging car events out there. This car is more than likely a much more difficult beast to tame.

Sorry but I have to call bs on that post. Ridiculous amount of driver aids? I dont know what world you are from but WRC is considered the most difficult of all the top level motorsports. Many F1 drivers and MotoGP drivers try rallying and they always say its extremely difficult. Any they dont normally use the top end WRC cars either.

If by 'many' you mean Valentine Rossi then yes he has entered the Rally GB on many occasion. And this year he finished 12th i believe.

Have you watched rallying in the last few years? The cars are so computer controlled its ridiculous. The slides are perfectly controlled and the car responds to absolutely everything the driver wants it to do. They are completely devoid of any drama.

The electronic diffs are probably an even bigger advantage than the 4wd systems which are incredibly advanced.

    WRC = dead

Yea I have been watching rallying for as long as I remember I also know quite a few rally drivers who would linch you for your comments :) The slide are perfectly controlled due to the skill of the drivers, electronic diffs are amazing but they are still driving on small back roads at over 110 mph! As for drama their are still plenty of big crashes and still some great driving. Just look at Wales GB where it was neck and neck right up to the end.

WRC is dying due to the global slowdown its not down to the sport itself. And remember rallying in the 80`s had the famous Group B cars which were a technical leap and bound ahead of what was out at the time. But you wouldnt say they were not as good due to the new technology in them. Drivers still have to be good no matter what car they drive.

In fact I was talking to one of my work mates who was telling me about his last test in the new A1GP car (he is Irelands test driver) and he was telling about all the new stuff in the car which he says makes it tricker to drive than the old car.

Colin mc rae on top gear years ago in what would be a slightly old WRC car. He still manages a perfectly controlled slide.

Colin in a Mk2 escort in the famous rally of the lakes. A very old car but it drifts like the above.(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kli07_qcaOM)

Im sorry but i have to disagree with you here. The group B cars were years ahead but they were absolutely wild because they had no electronic aids and ridiculous power(500+). The new cars are only a bit over 300hp and have all the driver aids. Yes the drivers obiously have something to do with it but they are so driveable now its stupid. Its much easier for them to recover from mistakes now than in the past and imo its far too easy.

Colin McRae does a perfectly controlled slide on a damp silverstone tbf. A WRC was always smooth looking on a big open circuit.

And i dont agree with you that its the global turndown thats responsible either. WRC cars are too easy to drive now and on WRC boards most people will back me up im sure. They just look boring to watch nowadays.

Its also done away with its classic rallys like the Safari. The rally GB is a shadow of its former self. The night stages have been done away. Most stages now are only 15-30mins long and many are repeated. Its a joke compared to what it was 10 years ago.

And the TV coverage of it is a sham nowadays. The global slowdown is only hastening its demise. s1600 rules next year mean it wont be much faster than the group N machines.

yeah i saw that alright. I dont think he thought it was hard to control but i think he was impressed by how fit you have to be to drive it more than anything. F1 suffers from the same problems i think.

That Colin Mcrae in the Mk2 clip was great. Thanks for that.
