    hi there guys
ive been having a really annoying problem with my sky+ and its really annoying me. the channels keep freezing every couple of minutes, sometimes seconds and its affecting programmes which are recording also. Ive come to the conclusion that it may be related to the bad winy weather? could this be why or is ther another problem??? is anyone else havin this problem?

hi i had that problem with sky + that i got installed lately an what i was told do was pull out the power lead for a few minutes and it works for a few days anyway i think the + is good but i cant figure out how to get a programme to change to another channel automatically

A few weeks back our tended to freeze on a station and would only work again if plugged out meaning losing all the stuff recording but it stopped after 3 or 4 days. I thought it might have something to do with the fact we plug it out every night and Sky say on their website that doing this for a year or so cab cause problems!

I've had this problem since August. Rang Sky, got the usual blurb, power down, leave for a few mins, power back on etc. This works fine for anything up to a week, then the whole episode happens all over again.

Next call had me unplugging the cables at the back of the box & popping them back in, made no difference either.

Rang Sky again, was told to do a full system reset. I was told that this would completely nuke the HD & I would loose my recordings. This didn't work, I didn't lose any recordings???

It happened again tonight while the OH was watching Corrie on TV3.
So I don't know what to do next. May as well get back on the phone to Sky, I s'pose.

Oh yeah, and in the middle of all this, the Sky+ remote gave up the ghost. 30 yo-yo's to replace that & it's just over a year old.

Sky + boxes can be temperamental at times. Any picture breakups or freezing is more than likely an alignment issue. The signal might look fairly good from the signal strength menu in system setup but only a meter reading will tell you how good or bad your signal really is...If you can't record one channel and watch another than the signal to the second tuner is either not connected or there's a bad contact in the cable connections... (Or rarely there's a fault with your Quad LNB).... One thing someone might be able to help me with is Channel 4/E4/More 4 recording problems. Cant for the life of me figure it out.... both signals are prefect but whenever you try recording (mainly channel 4) it just fails... it only happens on these channels, every other channel records flawlessly every time... Any ideas?

    Hi Tony,

Dunno who you were asking the above too...
Anyway, here's mine, perhaps you can decode:

    Input 1 Strength & Quality: 10/10
    Input 2 Strength: 8/10
    Input 2 Quality: 9/10

Lock Indicator ok on both Inputs.

    These numbers look Ok?

    Al.

Sorry was asking the OP. Your numbers look a little high although this may not be causing your problem. Try swapping the dish cables around the readings should swop around too.

not necessarily. the siganl will probably read the same which would indicate there is a fault with one of the tuners

Why do you think I asked Alzar to try this. ?

So they forgot to tell you to "wipe the card".
I thought that cured everything.

Alternatively "reboot the LNB". Hahahahaha. :D
