    Hi,

A friend is looking for a multi Room music system and isn't really sure where to start. Anyone know where in dublin you would get a good one? Anyone have one? Pro's and Cons?

    thanks guys

Probably need a bit more info before we can guide you in the right direction. How many rooms, is it a new build or retro fit? How many sources do they want to hook up to the system? Do they have all their music stored in mp3 or similar format?

Keypad type system or hand held control panels like Sonos?

    Cheers

retro fit, probably 4 rooms on 2 different level. As for music source probably a multi source system would be required (mp3 and cd's).

Retro fit without tearing apart the house to install a system based on keypads is going to be difficult.
The sonos system would be ideal in this case, however, it has its drawbacks.
As a system for playing mp3 based stored music and access to internet radio it is second to none but only has one line in source so there in lies it's limitations.
Visit the sonos website for a demo on how it works www.sonos.com
You could of course connect a multi disc cd player as your line in source but you would have no way of controlling the cd player from the sonos handset.
You can either store your music on pc/laptop but it is better to use a NAS and that way if the pc is off or away from the house the system still works.

Shout if you need any more help.

    Cheers

    Homer.

For a retrofit, then the Sonos is your best bet. It's wireless and so requires minimal cabling.
